Carol Alpert - Remedial Education Support
I became a Co-worker at The Rudolf Steiner Fellowship Community in Spring Valley, and attended Sunbridge Teacher Training, followed by The AHE Course, The Association for a Healing Education. This is the Waldorf Remedial Teacher Course, Extra Lesson. I worked at HVS, Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown CT. as a kindergarten teacher and then an ed support teacher. I was not a good kindergarten teacher. I wanted to hone in with the one child, rather than hold the whole. It was a painful learning for the children's aprents as well as for me. I have been doing this work ever since. In all I have been doing it 35 years.
Three years ago, I was recruited by Bonnie River for the Live Oak Charter as their Ed Support teacher. I stayed only one year, then came to SBS. I work 2 days at the Marin Waldorf School and 3 days at SBS. I love my work!! and I love you all. The best thing for me at SBS is "Bill B & The Special Education Team", and the work we are doing to harmonize Mainstream and Waldorf. As you have seen, this opportunity is a marriage of both my worlds enabling Waldorf methods and ideas to reach out to children with IEP's.
